What happened in NY was very tragic, and whenever there is tragedy there is a lot of hurt, anger, and confusion...for everybody involved and who has a personal interest. No matter what happened or how it turned out, the effects of the tragedy would still be there, whether people agreed or disagreed with what happened. It's too bad that there has to be tragedy at all because then nobody would get hurt by it. It would be more peaceful, too.
Tragedy can happen anyplace at anytime, but it seems to happen more often in some places. NYC is so big that it's bound to have more tragedies than other places. You said people should move away if they don't like it, but not everybody can move away. You said that you don't love where you are but it might be that you can't move or don't really have another place to go. There are people in NYC like that, too.
Even if people move away, though, it will not stop the tragedies because nobody who cares will be there to try to do something about it. Nobody really wants to let the tragedies keep happening because they would much rather see them stop and have the kind of peace like you were talking about.
