It is another cloudy, God-awful day in this crummy, miserable city. Well, at least the rain stopped. When I was in Grenada every day was beautiful. I was on the balcony of Millie's apartments there and I could see the Catholic Sisters beautifully landscaped yard next door. I always come back to that image in my mind; beautiful, tropical, flourishing plants and shrubs that in this weather would've shriveled up and died in sheer horror because of the cold. They had never experienced such horrorific weather! In the Caribbean you plant things in the fertile earth and they grow up lovely and shining, so happy and exuberant you can see it on their leaves as they wave hello to you. They would never wave hello in this weather that, although it's spring, is still cold. They'd be begging to be uprooted and planted back into their homeland. There are many immigrants that are here in the States begging for the same thing, but they can't because of financial reasons. They get a job and work and toil, waiting for that immaculate day when they can say goodbye to gray U.S.A. and hello again to the place that they miss so much.

You're right, things do "take" so easily in the Caribbean. Talk about growth and blossoming...and all year 'round, too!
yeah, I feel so WELCOME every time I clear customs and walk into the fresh, warm air...
